Welcome to the web site of the New Zealand Bar Association. The Association is an incorporated society which comprises mainly lawyers/attorneys who practise at the Independent Bar, i.e. usually as specialist litigators or advocates, or experts in dispute resolution, in sole practice. The web site will provide you with contact details for members of the Association. Members may access additional information which is confidential to the Association in the Members Area. Visitors may also access public documents and information of general interest.
Membership of the NZBA
The New Zealand Bar Association has a present membership of over 800. Membership of the Association is open to every person who is the holder of a current practising certificate to practice as a Barrister sole in New Zealand.
In some circumstances a person other than the above and who is enrolled as a barrister or solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand, upon a request in writing and with the approval of the Bar Association Council, can become an Associate member of the Association.
