Attorney-General launches the NZBA Equitable Briefing Policy

The Attorney-General launched the Equitable Briefing Policy for the Bar at the NZBA annual conference in Wellington on 12 September 2009.

The Policy is an initiative by the NZBA to assist in the equitable distribution of briefing to both male and female counsel.

The Policy is not an affirmative action policy.  Rather, the objective of the Policy is to serve as a reminder to those briefing the Bar to consider briefing equally competent women counsel.

The implementation of the Policy will develop in several stages and members will be kept informed of further developments.
