Election for the 2018-2019 NZBA Bar Council

The nominations for Council for the 2018-2019 term, which commences on 1 October 2018, have been received. The NZBA encourages all full members who are eligible to vote to do so.  You should have received an email from Election Buddy entitled Vote now: New Zealand Bar Association | Ngā Ahorangi Motuhake o te Ture - 2018 Bar Council Election - test 2.  Please follow the link in that email to cast your vote.

As we have received the same number of nominations as there are available places for the Waikato/Bay of Plenty and Otago/Southland regions and for the Associate Member representative, an election is not required for those places.

There are FIFTEEN (15) candidates standing in the Auckland, Wellington and Canterbury regions for NINE (9) places. An election is required in respect of the candidates who are standing in these regions.

Please also note that while this election is being held to elect members in the Auckland, Wellington and Canterbury regions, full members for the Waikato/Bay of Plenty and Otago/Southland regions are also entitled to vote for these candidates.

As permitted by the NZBA Rules (as amended in 2016), the Association is once again holding an electronic online election for all those members who have supplied an email address. Any member who has opted out of electronic communication will receive voting papers by post.

Closing date
The ballot closes at 4.00pm on Thursday 6 September 2018. All votes (including hardcopy votes) must have been received by this time.
