Auckland Bench & Bar Dinner
The President and Council of the New Zealand Bar Association | Ngā Ahorangi Motuhake o te Ture invite you to the annual Bench and Bar Dinner. Guests are invited to pre-dinner drinks at 6.45pm and to be seated at 7.15pm.
This year our guest speaker will be Scottish Silk, Roddy Dunlop QC, from Axiom Advocates, Edinburgh. Roddy’s expertise includes media law, professional discipline, commercial disputes, human rights and judicial review. He is rated in both the Legal 500 and the Chambers Directory. Chambers UK ranks him in seven separate practice areas, including as a Band 1 Silk in the areas of professional discipline, professional negligence, commercial dispute resolution, media law, medical negligence and public procurement.
Roddy is a member of the Scottish Rugby Union, EPCR and Six Nations Discipline Tribunals. He is a part time Chairman of the Police Appeals Tribunal and a member of the Association of Regulatory and Disciplinary Lawyers. He was Standing Junior Counsel to the Scottish Government from 2008-2010.
In April 2017 Roddy was appointed as the Treasurer of the Faculty of Advocates, the professional body to which all Advocates belong. Its history dates from the sixteenth century.
Roddy was educated at Edinburgh University. He began his legal career at Drummond Miller WS and was called to the Bar in 1998. He took Silk in 2010.

Full membership of the NZBA is open to every person who is the holder of a current New Zealand practising certificate as a Barrister Sole.
In some circumstances, persons other than barristers sole may become Associate Members of the NZBA
