Our  highly successful Paperless Hearings webinar and workshop in 2017 highlighted the need for more help for barristers at all levels as they transition to presenting using electronic bundles.

We are therefore offering a one day workshop in Wellington to provide hands-on experience, led by Phillip Cornegé and Josh McBride.

In the morning, attendees will work on their computers with electronic bundles, and learn techniques for marking them up and quickly navigating through the documents. This will be an interactive session with individual attention given to all those present.

Please note that you will need to bring a laptop that has been loaded with editing PDF software - preferably Adobe Acrobat DC or an equivalent.  If you have an iPad or Tablet, you might also want to bring that with you.

In the afternoon, those participants who wish to, will give a five minute presentation using the casebook before our judge and will then be given feedback on their presentation.  Participants will then have the opportunity to repeat the presentation, incorporating the comments and advice received.

Presenters:

The presenters, Phillip Cornegé and Josh McBride, have been working in a paperless environment for some years, both on their feet in court and in their offices. They have an interest in the use of technology in law and considerable experience in this area, including having written and presented on the subject.

Phillip Cornegé graduated from Victoria University of Wellington in 2004 with a BA/LLB(Hons). In 2003 he received the Sir Richard Wild Memorial Cup, and John Thomas Prize, as winner of the Law School’s advocacy competition.

He worked on a range of commercial matters, including employment, contract, competition, and public law, disputes. He spent time on secondment at both the Department of Corrections and BNZ. From 2009 to 2014, Phillip worked at Almao Douch, the office of the Crown Solicitor at Hamilton. He prosecuted serious criminal offending on behalf of the Crown and several regulatory authorities. Phillip commenced practice as a barrister sole in February 2014.
Josh McBride was admitted to the bar in 1998 and has worked at leading litigation practices in Auckland, Sydney and London. He is a specialist trial and appellate advocate. His areas of practice include contract interpretation, shareholder/partner disputes, trade mark infringement, consumer law, joint ventures and partnerships, construction law, insolvency, fraud, administrative law, and professional negligence.
