Public consultation starts on draft report on economic, social and cultural rights

The Government is preparing its latest periodic report to the United Nations on the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR).

The report responds to a specific list of issues the United Nations Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights requested information on, and outlines how the Government is tackling issues such as reducing family and sexual violence, improving health and education outcomes for Maori and Pasifika children and low income families, prohibiting unfair employment practices, and addressing child poverty.

The Civil Law and Human Rights Team of the Ministry of Justice is inviting feedback by 24 April 2017. For more information and to provide feedback, click here.
