The rules of professional conduct are crucial and adherence to ethical practice is key to your success as a barrister.  Ethical practice protects not only your clients, but yourself and your reputation.

Join our webinar chair, Garry Williams (Richmond Chambers) and our panel of experts who will explain the key obligations in this area and provide advice on a number of areas of risk that frequently arise in practice.

Our panel includes John Billington KC (Shortland Chambers), Paul Collins (Shortland Chambers) and Michael Robertson (Robertsons, Insurance Law Specialists)

Learning objectives for this webinar include:

  1. The ethical obligations of trial lawyers – what are they?
  2. Your obligations when making allegations of fraud or dishonesty;
  3. How to deal with tactical complaints about your conduct in litigation?
  4. How to recognise and deal with conflicts when they arise?
  5. What are your obligations when documents are disclosed to you in error?
  6. How to deal with making mistakes – should you continue to act?
  7. Should you act when a client’s case is hopeless?
  8. What are your ethical obligations when you have reached out to your PI insurers?
  9. What does your NZBA insurance policy cover?
